Investigațiile de laborator pentru detectarea virusului ce cauzează COVID-19, conform Organizației Mondiale a Sănătății, sunt indicate și se efectuează la persoanele cu infecție respiratorie acută severă (SARI), cu febră, tuse, dificultăți respiratorii și care necesită internare la spital, fără altă etiologie a bolii care explică pe deplin manifestările clinice și un istoric de călătorie în zonele cu transmitere comunitară extinsă în ultimele 14 zile anterioare debutului simptomelor.

 

Prescrierea investigațiilor de laborator pentru detectarea virusului ce cauzează COVID-19 este efectuată de către medicul infecționist din cadrul IMSP SCBI „Toma Ciorbă”, după indicația căruia, materialul biologic (tampon nazo-faringial) este colectat conform algoritmului de colectare în condiții speciale de către personalul medical instruit, apoi materialul biologic este amplasat în container special, cu respectarea măsurilor de securitate biologică și însoțit de un buletin de trimitere, care este transportat în Laboratorul virusologic al Agenției Naționale pentru Sănătate Publică.

 

Investigațiile de laborator sunt efectuate cu echipament pentru efectuarea investigațiilor molecularo-genetice în timp real utilizând teste speciale pentru determinarea virusului ce cauzează COVID-19.

 

Persoanele revenite în țară și care au călătorit în zone cu transmitere comunitară extinsă a infecției cu Coronavirus de tip nou, și care nu prezintă simptome de boală, precum: febră, tuse, rinoree, trebuie neapărat să se adreseze la medicul de familie de sector, pentru examinare și monitorizare la domiciliu timp de 14 zile.
