Austria continues to support the social welfare and healthcare sector in Moldova

The Minister of Health, Labour and Social Protection, Viorica Dumbraveanu had a meeting with the Austrian Ambassador Christine Freilinger and the attaché on social welfare, Gero Stuller. During the meeting, they have discussed the ongoing projects where Austria provides assistance to support the implementation of activities that improve social service delivery. They also discussed about the perspectives in collaboration in healthcare sector.

 

 ‘I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Austrian government for all the support given these years for many social programmes run in our country. I want to affirm the commitment of the Ministry in all the initiatives and ongoing projects, as well as future projects supported by the Austrian Embassy’, said Viorica Dumbraveanu.

 

Christine Freilinger has affirmed as well that Austria is committed to helping Moldova to implement policies and strategies to reduce unemployment, disability discrimination, and the promotion of active ageing. The Ambassador assured that her government will assist our country in the field of healthcare, where help is needed the most at this phase.

 

Another point of discussion was the signing of a Collaboration Agreement between the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection of Moldova and the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research from Austria which will grant the Ministry the support and counseling from the Austrian experts.

 

Currently, the bilateral relations between Moldova and Austria regarding Social Security are regulated by an Agreement which contains stipulations granting pensions benefits for reaching state pension age, for disability caused by work-related accidents and diseases and inherited pension payments. The bilateral cooperation is currently focused on the exchange of good practices, regarding the labour market inclusion of vulnerable social groups.
