The Republic of Turkey will continue to contribute to the modernization of the health system in our country

The Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Stela Grigoraş met today with the delegation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, leaded by the head of the International Health Policy Department, Mr. Selami Kiliç, who perfroms a working visit to the Republic of Moldova during the period of 01-05 October.

 

During the meeting, the officials discussed the status of the ongoing projects, the prospects for future cooperation and the process of identifying the priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of health between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Turkey through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

 

In the context, Dr. Stela Grigoraş thanked for the support provided to the ministry and appreciated the importance of TIKA's assistance in the reconstruction of the Mother and Child Institute and the District Hospital in Comrat, for equipping hospitals with modern equipment and for the continuous contribution to fortifying the capacities of medical personnel. Likewise, Dr. Stela Grigoraş reiterated the importance of signing a new memorandum of cooperation between the ministry and TIKA for stable and long-lasting collaboration.

 

In turn, Selami Kiliç reiterated Turkey's willingness to provide the necessary support and assistance to carry out the program of reform and modernization of the health system in our country.

 

Officials also discussed the funding criteria for healthcare providers, medical tourism, and the new action plan to be signed by both sides, where TIKA is committed to provide support for the training of healthcare professionals in the fields of orthopedics, gynecology and obstetrics, treatment of some patients with oncological diseases in Turkish hospitals, modernization of the information system and reduction of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

 

We mention that the partnership of cooperation in the field of health with the Republic of Turkey is based on the Agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey on cooperation in the field of health, signed in Chisinau on 11 November 1997.
