The Swiss Foundation "Swisscor" will provide assistance to children with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova

The Deputy Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Mrs. Viorica Dumbrăveanu, held a meeting with Mr. Adolf Ogi, former President of the Swiss Confederation, the Chairman of the Swiss Corporation Patronage Committee. The purpose of the meeting was to set cooperation priorities regarding the continuity of “Swisscor” projects in the Republic of Moldova.

 

Viorica Dumbrăveanu thanked the representatives of Swisscor for support and assistance to disadvantaged children during the 10 years of cooperation with the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, she mentioned that the ministry is open to provide all the support for the continuity of the Foundation's projects and, in this regard, a memorandum of collaboration will be signed soon.

 

In his turn, Mr. Adolf Ogi expressed his appreciation to the Government, who was all along this time and supported them in all the implemented projects. He reiterated the importance of effective collaboration in the future in order to support children with special needs in our country.

 

An important topic discussed during the meeting was cooperation with the "Solitary Hearts" Association, which assists “Swisscor”. Mr. Adolf Ogi asked the ministry to establish a mechanism for the continuous identification and monitoring of potential beneficiaries of assistance (children with disabilities) from socially vulnerable families. In this respect, Viorica Dumbrăveanu mentioned that a working group will be formed at the ministry, which will be responsible for working with the association.

 

We mention that “Swisscor” started its activity in the Republic of Moldova in 2007. Disadvantaged and disabled children were the main beneficiaries of “Swisscor's” special assistance. Six of the 16 annual summer rehabilitation camps were dedicated exclusively to children in our country (600 children, accompanied by about 150 assistants from 20 residential institutions in the country).
